With Disney Scan App, Mickey Mouse fans celebrated his anniversary in a different way: with an augmented reality environment full of exclusive content to have fun and share with friends.

Disney, the largest entertainment company in the world, has its own application to discover augmented reality content called Disney Scan. The platform was developed by CamOnApp, a leading company in immersive technologies, and is available for free in the Apple Store and Google Play.With this product, the company creates a new entertainment & digital channel that enhances engagement and drives to a direct contact with their younger audience. In this direction, the campaign “Destination: Mickey 90” emerged: the augmented reality experience that Disney made in Latin America to celebrate with fans the anniversary of this loved character.

How was the experience?

Once the app is downloaded to any smartphone or tablet, users have to scan any branded content from the campaign and augmented reality experiences are activated inviting them to play and test their knowledge in trivia, apply face-filters, get wallpapers and watch exclusive videos of Mickey Mouse. In addition, the platform has geolocation features that through an interactive map, takes fans to discover 360° content around them.

To spread the campaign, the firm rotate an advertising spot on their television channels, encouraging fans to approach the screen and scan an image target for accessing to the 90th anniversary surprises.

The action for the birthday of Mickey Mouse is one of the many proposals with augmented reality available in Disney Scan since June 2017. With Disney Scan, fans of the brand can scan toys, books, stickers, packaging, supports in activations of the brand, among others. Currently, it is available in more than 27 countries around the world and with the clear aim of continue expanding to other markets.
