Lonely Planet made a special pocket-sized edition of Las Leñas with an interactive cover to discover the secrets of Mendoza´s valley.

Lonely Planet, one of the largest travel guide publishers in the world, decided to launch a special edition of Las Leñas with Augmented Reality experiences to promote 2019´s winter season with all the activities offered by the ski center.

They convened CamOnApp to go one step further by offering their readers an innovative proposal with immersive technologies. In this way, the protagonist’s skiers of the cover were intervened with augmented reality!

By downloading the App from Google Play or Apple Store and scanning the cover image, users discover an animation of the snowing valley and skiers sliding down the mountain. In addition, to integrate the offline and online communication channels of Las Leñas, a link to the promotional video was added and also the direct access to its website with live transmission of the valley and social media profiles.

Moreover, the distinguish snowman was developed using ARKit/ARCore technologies. This type of experiences allows 3D characters to be place on any flat surface on real scale.

With this initiatives, Lonely Planet invites their followers to live with augmented reality the winter from any location.
